We retrieve, recover, transmit & dematerialize shares

We retrieve share certificates misplaced/lost by you by obtaining duplicate certificates from the Companies.

We recover your shares from Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) to which your shares get automatically transferred if you have failed in depositing your dividend cheques for 7 consecutive years.

We facilitate the legal transmission of shares from a deceased shareholder to the rightful heir by preparing and filing the necessary applications before the Testamentary Department of the High Court and obtaining the required certificates.

We dematerialize your physical shares (convert them to electronic form), a mandatory requirement under SEBI guidelines without which trading or transfer of securities is not permitted.

Process

Retrieve

For obtaining duplicate share certificates in case you have misplaced/lost the original we file on your behalf an FIR at the Police station, publish newspaper advertisements in 2 newspapers inviting objections to your application for issue of duplicate share certificates (a requirement of the Company), provide two guarantors to the Company with annual income equivalent to the value of lost shares, provide bank guarantee valid for 2 years, if insisted upon by the Company, equivalent to the value of lost shares.

Recover

As per Section 124 of the Companies Act, 2013, all shares in respect of which dividend has not been paid or claimed for seven consecutive years or more shall be transferred by the organization in the name of Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF). Recovering these shares is a very tedious and cumbersome activity. It is nearly impossible for a layman to do the exorbitant amount of communication and legal paperwork. WeDemat has experts who will help you to get the work done and manage all the required documents.

No matter whether it is shares or unclaimed dividend, matured debenture or, matured deposits , and application money due for refund, you can  claim by filling an application in Form IEPF 5

After filling the form, you need to  send the copy of IEPF5 duly signed along with the following documents to the concerned company for verification of your claim:

  • Copy of Acknowledgement

  • Indemnity Bond

  • Advance Stamped Receipt

  • Copy of Aadhar

  • Cancelled Cheque

  • Original Certificate

  • Proof of entitlement

  • Copy of Passport, OCI and PIO card if you are foreigners and NRI) as enumerated in Form IEPF-5

Within fifteen days of receipt of claim form, the company should send a verification report to the IEPF Authority as per the format specified or demanded  by the Authority along with all documents submitted by you.

Once the verification of the entitlement of your is done, the IEPF Authority and then Drawing and Disbursement Officer of the Authority will present a bill to the Pay and Accounts Office for e-payment according to the guidelines. The IEPF Authority will also issue a refund sanction order with the verification and approval of the Competent Authority and will credit the shares which are there  with depository participant in IEPF suspense account to the demat account of the claimant to the extent of the claimant’s entitlement.

Transmit

We undertake the complete process of transmission of shares held by a deceased shareholder to the rightful legal heirs by preparing, filing, and obtaining the requisite Succession Certificate, Probate, or Letters of Administration from the Testamentary Department of the High Court.

Dematerialise

Dematerialisation is the process by which a physical share is converted into digital format. An investor who wants to dematerialize the share certificate needs to open a demat account with a Depository Participant (DP). The investor has to deface and surrender the certificates to convert them into electronic form which in turn is sent to his demat account. Process can be verified electronically via confirmation request. Demat is safe, secure and convenient. It also reduces the risk of mutilation, loss and theft. WeDemat helps you to demat by connecting you to reliable depository participants and help you open cost effective accounts with them.

Testimonials

Amrita Mane

A social media professional and fully fluent in the digital world, Amrita was surprised and frustrated that despite all her tech skills, she spent five years (since 2020) trying in vain to convert her late father’s shareholdings into electronic format. Endless procedures and paperwork led nowhere — until she turned to WeDemat. In just three months, a large portion of those very same shares were finally dematerialised and reflected in her mother’s Demat account, bringing closure and relief to the family after years of dead ends.

Rustom Keki Sethna

Rustom’s family wealth was scattered and forgotten across generations — with shares lying in the names of his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, his grandmother’s sister, his father’s mother-in-law, and even in his wife’s maiden name, among many others. What seemed like an impossible tangle of legacy holdings was traced, organised, and recovered by WeDemat, finally bringing all those long-lost investments back into the family fold.

Rohinton Master

Once residing with his parents at Dadar Parsi Colony, Rohinton moved to Byculla after their passing — unaware that his late father had left behind a small investment in shares. What seemed an insignificant ₹1,000 investment in Titan had silently grown to over ₹1 crore. With no documents or proofs of ownership, Rohinton turned to WeDemat, and our team successfully traced, verified, and recovered every share — reuniting him with wealth he never knew existed.

Riva Pocha

She had spent eight long years trying unsuccessfully to dematerialise holdings in her mother’s name. After countless delays and dead ends, she finally turned to WeDemat — and in less than six months, the very shares she had been struggling for nearly a decade to recover were successfully retrieved and dematerialised.

Behram Surty

Mr. Behram Surty had moved to Australia decades ago, due to which his flat in Mumbai remained unoccupied and all correspondence kept getting returned. His share certificates had also been lost. Nevertheless, we were able to retrieve his shares within six months. As he himself says, the process would have been even faster had someone been available at his Mumbai address to receive the mail.
